SPLC for Atlantic 57
The Southern Poverty Law Center has years of information within a database called Dossier. Because of the system's inefficiencies no one wants to use. Employees have developed their own storage systems on laptops, notebooks and their heads! Did I mention the database was also scheduled to be sunset later that year?
The challenge was developing a new database in three months that would get users to content faster, standardize workflows, surface and prioritize content, improve collaboration, prevent redundancies and increase security.
CareerBuilder Business Review Report
I built a data reporting tool for the account executive team and their clients of the employment screening division of CareerBuilder. The previous interface was outdated, slow to render results and was not usable.
The challenge here was learning the existing tool's intended use, document how users adapted a workflow outside the system and design one that meets both internal employees and their clients. Research was heavily involved in identifying user needs.
CareerBuilder Background Check Portal
One of CareerBuilder's most profitable products was its employment screening platform where candidates completed a series of forms for companies to perform background checks on them.
The challenge was updating a UI being built on a legacy system. Poor usability introduced many user errors, which delayed the screening process as well as clients' ability to hire competitively.
Since leadership considered this a high-profile project it was rushed to development without user testing, unfortunately.
CareerBuilder Post a Job App
As one of the newest members on the team, I inherited this project in its latest iterative cycle. The long-term goal was to sunset the mobile responsive view and introduce an experience that is native.
I was tasked with building on features that allow recruiters to create requisitions, customize the job details then post.
The challenge here was to retain functionality from the desktop version while merging a flow that is consistent with previous iterations.
Grainger Employee Integration Tool
I joined the team near the end of the first of four milestones for rebuilding a complex and technical employee-facing integration tool called Merlin, which is used to manage digital transactions between Grainger and our partners.
Since the tasks are very technical, the challenge here was building a UI without fully understanding all of the content within. User feedback was pertinent to the design process.
Grainger Benefits Management
The Benefits Management project was on and off again for 2-3 years before I was hired. My told expectations were to "get this out the door." We were building a subsidy program from scratch.
The challenge here was that much of what we built impeded on other areas of Grainger.com that we didn't own and there were no existing users to test or provide feedback.
Humana Diabetes Landing Page
I developed a yearlong marketing plan and strategy that targets diabetic and prediabetic members. One initiative was to promote an online resource that gives users an interactive and personalized experience to help manage their condition. Other parts of my role included designing a landing page that explains the resource and identifying interaction points by user types.
Since the marketing team was new, the challenge here was developing a workflow process and finding the appropriate teams within a large organization to execute project tasks within our given timeline.
